What is Laser Teeth Whitening?

Laser teeth whitening involves a professional-quality whitening gel that is activated using a bright laser light. The light accelerates the whitening process, delivering high-end results that are far superior to at-home products. The whitening is done in our office and takes just about an hour. Results can be seen immediately and can be as drastic as six to eight shades whiter than before treatment was administered.

Why would you need Laser Teeth Whitening?

You may need laser teeth whitening because you’re unhappy with the look of your smile. If you have stained or discolored teeth, it can put a damper on your self-esteem and cause you to feel embarrassed when you smile. Some of the most common reasons your teeth become stained include:

  • You smoke or chew tobacco
  • You drink coffee, tea and soda
  • You eat a lot of berries and staining foods
  • Your teeth are yellowed and dull due to age
  • Your teeth have yellowed because of medications you’re taking

What makes you a candidate for Laser Teeth Whitening?

Laser teeth whitening does not whiten restorations, such as fillings, crowns and bridge work. The procedure only whitens your natural teeth, so it will benefit you if you want to improve only your natural smile. You may want to whiten your teeth because you’re ready for a change or are simply looking to improve your smile because of a wedding, reunion or another type of event. We will monitor your results both before and after the whitening is completed to see how much your teeth have lightened.

What can you expect with Laser Teeth Whitening?

First, we will use a special dental dam to separate your gums from your teeth. This keeps the gum protected and prevents sensitivity. A whitening gel is applied to the teeth and a laser light is used to activate the whitening ingredient in the gel. This accelerates results and improves the amount of stains that are being lifted. After just a half hour, we will remove the gel and apply new gel to the teeth. The laser light is again used for another half an hour. You will have all gel removed as well as the dental dam and light. You’ll benefit from a smile that is multiple shades lighter than when you came in.
